"When I learned that I was pregnant with our second child, I wanted to find a new doctor closer to my home that could deliver my baby at Memorial Hermann Hospital. I heard of Dr. Hardwick-Smith through an acquaintance, and I decided to start seeing her. From my first phone call to Complete Women's Center, I was thoroughly impressed! After an unsuccessful attempt to make an appointment, the office staff called ME back to offer a time when it opened up. I was coming in as a new patient, and they exerted that effort to accommodate me! Throughout the pregnancy, I was very impressed by Dr. Hardwick-Smith and Brandi. They were very patient with my questions and concerns, and they provided me detailed information on what to expect. However, the delivery of my son has made me a true fan! A couple days after his birth, we learned that our son had some complications, and he had to spend a week in NICU before returning to MHH for surgery several weeks later. During those stressful days, we received care from the doctors that went way beyond the call of duty. When our son was in the NICU, Dr. Beard offered to extend my stay in the hospital by a day. Every mommy who has had to leave her baby in the hospital appreciates the kindness of this act! Within a few days after our son came home, Dr. Hardwick-Smith called to check on me and the baby. She knew what was wrong with him, but she once patiently listened and asked how they could help. During our son's hospitalization following surgery, I ran into Dr. Ohlemacher in the hospital a few times. Even though I had only seen her once, she remembered me and asked each time about the baby's progress. That level of personal knowledge and care is remarkable in the medical field. Although Complete Women's Center is always busy, especially for expecting mothers, the doctors do not lose sight of who you are and your individual needs. "I have been a patient of Dr. Hardwick-Smith's since 2003 when I was referred to her for a hysterectomy when I was 40 years old. She met with me that first time and explained the entire procedure and process and made me feel so at ease. She answered every question that I had and I did not feel rushed. I found out after the surgery that there were more issues involved once they started so she had to call a couple of specialists to assist right away. She called me in my room that first night and reassured me that it went well and also visited every day to check on me. The two specialists that assisted also came to the hospital to check on me and answer questions. After speaking with the specialists, I really realized how serious the surgery was and that I was so lucky to have had Dr. Hardwick-Smith and that the physicians that she called in on the spot. I had about a 7 week recovery and she was so kind and sweet during the process. The entire staff at CWCC have always been considerate, kind and so helpful. I have continued to use Dr. Hardwick-Smith as my regular physician and am still grateful every day that I was referred to her for my surgery.
